Christmas in July

Merry Christmas in July! Want to celebrate? Here's a few Melbourne ways to get jolly even when Santa is still five months away...

1. Queen Vic Night Markets.

It may not be a traditional Christkindle market but you can grab a mulled wine, a warm cider, a big bread roll full of soup and all sorts of other goodies. Sounds like Xmas to me!

Every Wednesday night from 5.30pm at the Queen Victoria Markets.

2. Gertrude St. Projections

Christmas needs Christmas lights. The houses may not have got the memo to decorate in July but Gertrude St sure has! It's a bit of a mini White Night without the overwhelming crowds (bonus!).

From This Friday July 15th- July 24th.

3. Sovereign Hill Winterwonderlights

Christmas in July magic right here. Old world decorations, gingerbread decorating, carols, mulled wine, Christmas panto And those amazing lights at the end of the day. THIS is Christmas in July central.

On now at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. Finishes 24th July.

I like to lump the fireworks in with Christmas too, if we can do pretend Christmas we can sure throw in a few pretend New Years fireworks as well. Lots of places to see the show as it's launched from barges in the middle of Docklands.

Every Friday in July and August at 7.30pm.

5. Your Place.

This is the best one. Dust off the tree, bust out the Christmas CDs and pick a random July day that doesn't clash with the footy. Celebrate good company with some good food.

Why do Christmas in July?

Because who knows how many Christmases we've got left together, you may as well double them.

Merry Christmas x
