Balloon Spotting

This is our new favourite thing to do. Sure, it's early, and cold, and kind of unpredictable but it's all worth it!

Weather conditions have a huge impact on ballooning so it's impossible to tell you where they will leave from but there are some tips to help your odds.

1. If it's really windy or if there's any rain around turn your alarm off. They won't be floating.

2. Royal Park is a common take off point especially in very calm weather.

3. Balloons take off at sunrise so try and get there before that to see them get inflated. (Google will help you with the daily sunrise time).

Royal Park is a great spot for balloon spotting because you either a) see the balloons take off from right there, b) sit on the hill and get a great view of the balloons floating over the city or c) miss the balloons but find yourself in Melbourne's best playground and you'll have it all to yourself.
