Dandenong Festival of Lights

The Dandenong Festival of Lights is back! This annual event is a spectacular display of lanterns and lights spread over the Dandenong Showgrounds for you to explore. The lanterns celebrate Chinese culture with mythical animals, zodiac signs and terracotta warriors. There are also full sized animals, enormous insects, dinosaurs and hundreds of flowers.

I love the enchanted forest vibe of this event, lots of the lanterns are not roped off and are scattered throughout the trees so it feels like you are discovering them. The animals and insects were the favourites with my crew and they enjoyed being able to get up so close to them.

Dress warm and consider gum boots too, there were some puddles around when we visited.

On site are food trucks and an ice cream van. There are also nightly performances at 7pm and a jumping castle.

The lights are switched on at 6pm each evening and the grounds are accessible with prams and wheelchairs.

Tickets are available online or at the gate.

The Dandenong Festival of Lights is held at Greaves Reserve in Dandenong and is on now and will close October 9th.
