A few weeks ago dozens of concrete bollards were installed throughout the CBD of Melbourne to prevent cars driving through public places. At first this was a pretty depressing reminder of the state of the world but soon enough it was turned into 'Bollart'. Yep, that's a thing now, because Melbourne is awesome.
We checked out some of the Bollart today and found some great ones! Bowie is hanging out at Southern Crss Station along with some fabric art.
Fed Square has a great modern art piece (above) along with a Rubik's cube, dice and scrabble blocks.
Our favourite one was in Bourke Street Mall though, a masterpiece by the Brickman Experience! A solid Lego Bollart!
The city has declared these bollards fair game for people to decorate so expect plenty more Bollartts to come.
All the Bollarts are on the free tram route so getting around is easy.
Check them out while you can, they are a temporary fix until more permanent structures can be decided upon and constructed. It's not known how long they'll be around for.
