Melbourne artist Rone has done some spectacular things but I think this project might just be our favourite.
Usually Rone's work in abandoned buildings is not open to the public but this house in Alphington is an exception to the rule. The house has been filled with murals and styled with an amazing eye for detail.
The Omega Project will be open daily from 12-5pm until July 30th. After that the house's fate is unknown. It was to be demolished but now there is word that the entire house will be moved to a new location to be preserved.
Catalogues are available at the house for $20. Visiting the house is free of charge.
The Omega House is located on Parkview St Alphington. Limited parking in the street or catch the train and it's a 700m walk. Expect queues, we waited for about 45min, but that might have just been opening day. Either way it's worth the wait.
