Horrible Histories is coming to Melbourne with their hugely successful stage show Barmy Britain. It's sure to be a hit with kids who love the books and the TV show. Playing only three shows in Moonee Ponds and Frankston before heading to Sydney, get in quick because tickets are selling fast! I'm giving away a double pass to the Moonee Ponds show over on Facebook as well. (Don't do Facebook? Email me with your name and your favourite thing about Horrible Histories to go in the draw. Winner picked at random on Friday 15th September.)
Horrible Histories on stage will be performing in Moonee Ponds on Saturday September 23 and Frankston September 24.
Here are some other fun spots to check out with the junior history buffs to really get in the Horrible Histories mood:
A replica medieval style castle with interactive activities and demonstrations. Located just outside Ballarat, north of Melbourne.
A miniature Tudor model village in Fitzroy Gardens.
Just constructed and currently holding preview performances, The Pop Up Globe is going to be holding Shakespeare plays over the next couple of months. Located beside the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Tickets available online.
Check out the Savage Stone Age and plenty more history with loads for the kids to see and do. Located in Carlton Gardens.
This is an Egyptian Themed restaurant and gaming venue in Geelong with a big Sphinx on the top. Inside it is decorated like a tomb with wall carvings and a gold Sphinx. It's not worth a trip to Geelong just for a visit but if you are out that way for another reason, drop in.
2 Thompson Rd, North Geelong VIC
A beautiful temple complex in Footscray that will have kids believing they are in China. Visitors welcome during opening hours.
20 Joseph Rd, Footscray
Little History buffs are going to LOVE this place. Sovereign Hill is a gold rush town, showing what Ballarat was like between 1850-1860. There's gold panning, mine tours, old cottages to explore, coach rides and plenty more. This is a full day of fun, and lollies.
Sovereign Hill is located in Ballarat.
