AFL Women's League

The AFL Women's League is finally here and it is FANTASTIC! The stadiums are filling to the brim with fans keen to watch these amazing women play. It all makes you wonder why it took this long to get off the ground??Β

The matches are FREE (fixture below) and it's a very family friendly atmosphere. We went along to Whitten Oval, home of the Bulldogs, and there were kid's activities, food trucks, all the facilities you need and is very easy to get to by train (West Footscray Station).

Be sure to arrive early because the first two Melbourne matches have been lock outs!

The matches are played over four 15minute quarters with a smaller team but no less excitement. There are footy records ($3) and free footy cards featuring these fresh faces available at the matches.

Keep your eye out for the the players, they are doing some events to meet the fans during the season. Each team has a good social media presence so follow along and go meet the stars.

And grab a copy of 'A Footy Girls Guide' for the little footy fans. It's got great back stories on one player from each of the teams. It's perfect for the primary school crowd ($12.95 available at bookstores now).

See you at the next match!
