The Myer Christmas Windows opened today and, as always, are pretty wonderful. If you saw the windows last year you will recognise the style and Melbourne theme. This year the inspiration is the book "One Christmas Eve" by Corrine Fenton and Marjorie Crosby-Fairall. (Available for sale in Myer).
I love that the story celebrates the Aussie Christmas experience with paper hats and a bbq in the backyard without a hint of snow. There is even a girl swinging about on a hills hoist!
The windows are open daily from 7.30am to 1am and are free. Myer is located in Burke Street Mall in the CBD, easily accessible by tram or street parking available in the city.
When you visit the Windows check out the free treasure hunt in David Jones next door (happening now) and the gingerbread city at the town hall (opening in December). Also close by is the Melbourne Town Hall projections happening after dark in December.
